She ate four pieces. 

After the second she looked at me and asked, "Why am I always the only one left eating watermelon?  Why does everyone else go play and I'm still here?  Just eating?" 

I'm not crazy about my editing of this photo, but this shot was my favorite so I'm going with it. It was either this one or a photo of a potty training three year old.

Not much time to snap photos today.  We spent most of our time sunnin' by the pool.

My mom and I went to our town's local craft fair today and it was smokin' hot outside!  Ninety degrees and full sun.  Smokin' hot, I tell ya'. 

Afterwards, we spotted an estate sale at a really cute little house and look what I found!!  (The camera...not the three year old.)  Ten bucks for two cameras, extra lenses and some sort of Kodak timer...??

We participated in the community yard sale today and Allison walked down the street with Nan and came back with this pillow....and a step stool for her big sister.  How sweet!

This morning, on the way to the grocery store, Caroline and I spotted this little Cardinal just sitting in the middle of the road. I assume Widdle Burdie was injured because I was able to get really close. Caroline sat in the car with her window down...shouting out words like...

"Aw! Widdle Burdie! Aw! Poor widdle ting!"

And let's not forget...

"Whatchoo doin' Mommy? You takin' a pishure of duh widdle burdie? Why you do dat, Mommy? Dat silly!"

After a few quick snaps, I shooed Widdle Burdie to the side of the road and Caroline continued...

"What Widdle Burdie gonna do over dare, Mommy? He is waitin' on his fran? Or maybe he is waitin' on his mommy? Yeah. He waitin' on his mommy, I tink."

Today's prompt:   We all have something in our future to look forward to.  This may be professional growth, spiritual growth, growth of our children, growth of our family, or whatever else in life that gives you hope. What will your luck bring in your future? What blessings do you look forward to?  I like to think of this as your own personal “rainbow.”

I guess a lot of people would say they look forward to watching their children grow up.  Not me.  I'm not the least bit excited about my little ones becoming big ones.  I've squished them into clothes that are too small...I've smooshed their feet into shoes that are a size too little....I've put piles of books on their heads to keep them from getting taller....

None of that has worked.  They have decided to grow and I don't like it. 

One bit. 

So....I am ditching that "kids are growing up" deal and looking forward to seeing our yard in full bloom this season.  We completely overhauled our backyard last summer and most of the plantings had already bloomed by the time they were installed.  We haven't seen our new yard in all of her lovely glory just yet.  As you can see, our grass is just starting to green up.  We have a bloom here and there, but I'm ready for the full monty.  I'm also looking forward to growing a bit more with photography.  I'm excited about a full frame camera (where IS that UPS man, anyway?!) and taking a class or two during the summer.  I've got a few photography related adventures coming up and I'm super dooper excited. 

And that?  Is what I'm looking forward to. 

Now.  Off to squash down my kids a bit more....

Today's prompt (or, actually....I think it's yesterday's prompt, but whatever...): I am certain that if you think hard, you can find seven materials things that you LOVE.  What are they?  Capture these with your lens…..the sky is the limit for this lesson.  we are all so fortunate for what we have materially.  We’re lucky to have these material objects.  Let’s focus on our luck and blessings today – capture your favorite seven objects!

Here they are! My seven most favorite materialistic objects. First, let me start off by saying that I am so very low maintenance and the total opposite of everything "materialistic". I HATE to shop for myself and always feel bad about spending money or having money spent on me (Which is why although I cannot wait to see that d700? It gets me anxious because it was money spent on ME....silly, I guess.) Anyhoo...my seven favorite things may seem a bit random and weird because I'm not at all a materialistic kind of gal. I thought I'd skip this prompt, even!

1. My South Carolina koozee and a Diet Dr. Pepper...I love that thing. We have vacationed in SC so many times and even honeymooned in Charleston. We'd love to move there one day. That little palmetto tree on my koozee makes me happy.

2. My iPhone. LOVE it.

3. My iPod and all the music on it. We are big time music buffs here and it seems as though music is constantly playing in our house. From Drivin' n' Cryin' to Chris Botti.

4. My 85 1.8...that bokeh is phenomenal. I know the 1.4 is even better, but for the money? You cannot beat that 1.8.

5. The wedding bands that I never take off. Well, except for one time when I had to take a photo of my seven favorite things.

6. Our bed...it's there, in the background. We had the most uncomfortable mattress in the history of mattresses and now it's like sleeping on a cloud. Each and everytime I lay my little head down I see angels and rainbows and rays of sunshine.

7. Not really materialistic, but my last item? Tickets. We are big time concert go-ers (yes, we love Dave Matthews...like...a LOT. I may or may not be a member of the fan club. Hey. Don't judge! They give out all kinds of good stuff and let you order your tickets first.) We also love Falcons football and spent the season at the Dome.

So...that's my list!

This is the best I've got for today.  Hopefully, a five year old....straight off the bus...with purple shoes....and rolled up jeans will do. 

Oh!  And a line cutting right through her legs and then again smack through her head.  

See?  I DO know the rules, I just choose to break them.  How 'bout *that* for rebel?!
